As is always the case chez Carillon, the 2023 Referts just noses out the other two beautiful premier crus in the cellar here as the finest of the troika. This wine shares the beautifully expressive bouquet of the Champs Canet with the underlying mineral drive and greater length of the Perrières, successfully synthesizing the best attributes of the two wines that preceded it in the tasting to fashion and utterly complete and superb example of Puligny premier cru. The bouquet is flat out stunning, offering up scents of golden delicious apples, pears, lemon zest, a complex base of chalky minerality, honeysuckle, vanillin oak and lemon blossoms. On the palate the wine is pure, precise and full-bodied, with a fine girdle of acidity, a gorgeous core of fruit, great mineral undertow and a long, complex and vibrant finish. Great juice. An ultra-fresh and cool nose freely offers up its aromas of just sliced citrus, white peach and mineral reduction that are trimmed in enough wood to notice. The delicious, intense and impressively voluminous flavors possess fine mid-palate density along with a more subtle bead of minerality that adds a sense of lift to the citrusy, serious and wonderfull finale.

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Réferts is rich and ripe, delivering aromas of peach, white flowers, toasted nuts, citrus pith and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a sweet core of fruit, it's another demonstrative wine from Carillon this year.
