Bereche Campania Remensis Extra Brut Rose comes from eight hectares in the Montagne de Reims, lovingly farmed by Raphael and Vincent Bereche using what they call “carefully considered” viticulture—always working in harmony with the land. In the glass, this pale, elegant rose bursts with aromas of wild strawberry and rhubarb, leading to a vibrant palate layered with pink grapefruit and juicy pomegranate. Lively, precise, and irresistibly refreshing, it’s a fantastic match for seafood, sashimi, or simply as a celebratory aperitif that keeps you reaching for the next sip.
The 2018 Extra-Brut Campania Remensis is wonderfully airy and lifted in this release. There’s plenty of depth, but it is expressed in more of an understated manner. Time in the glass brings out that richness, though. I would cellar this for another year, as it is still rather tight, giving the impression of a relatively recent disgorgement. There’s a lot of wine here. Crushed red berry fruit, dried flowers and spice linger. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 3, 2022.
The nose is open, really pretty and engaging with some small red berries and fresh butter croissant, pastry notes. There's a subtle interplay of flavors on the palate, ranging from mandarin orange and tangerine to pear and fresh apple. The fruit is supported by a silky texture and energetic acidity.
